Every year the Mechanical Engineering department has a variety of scholarships that they award. To receive the scholarship, each student has to apply, and based on a variety of factors, whoever is the best fit will receive the scholarship.
At the end of every semester, the Mechanical Engineering department asks both the undergraduate and graduate students to give us ratings of their teaching assistant’s. The two TAs selected for Winter Semester 2021 outstanding TA award were Sam McKinnon (the undergraduate TA) and John Morrell (the graduate TA).
Dr. Daniel Maynes decided to major in Mechanical Engineering through what he called “a process of elimination,” because he liked Chemistry, Math, Physics and did not like subjects like history. Maynes had narrowed down his focus to Engineering, Physics or Math before he left for his mission.
Thousands of dollars of fellowship award funding was recently awarded to four Brigham Young University mechanical engineering students. Josh Cannon, Wesley Holt, Brian Merrit, and Mathew Haskell will be using these grants to further their work on wind energy optimization, satellite temperature control, advanced energy technologies, and robust control methods.
