Capstone Fair Showcases Ingenious Drink Dispenser Designed by BYU Students

At the 2025 Capstone Fair, visitors were treated to a thirst-quenching project that combined creativity, engineering skill, and real-world utility: a student-built, drink cup vending machine. Designed for their senior capstone project, these students set out to solve a problem right here on campus, and their innovative solution drew crowds.
Often, drink buyers must submit and order and wait in long lines at the Cougareat’s various restaurants - all to just buy a soda cup. This product allows users to buy a cup quickly, reducing wait times, while increasing customer satisfaction and soda cup sales - perfect for high traffic environments like events, cafeterias, or offices.
With its careful attention to user experience and mechanical reliability, this product speaks for itself. It was more than just a fun project, but a showcase of what BYU engineers are capable of creating under real-world constraints.

This year’s capstone fair featured a range of innovative projects, but this drink dispenser stood out as both clever and refreshingly functional - literally. Whether it becomes a commercial project or serves as a stepping stone for this team’s future careers, the dispenser made a lasting impression.
